Sears, Retailing History, Retail, Brands that no longer exist, Walgreen Boots, Target, Khols, Amazon

It was only a matter of time. Well, today it happened. Yesterday, I opened my morning Wall Street Journal and saw the headline, “Sears prepares to file for Chapter 11” with the sub-headline reading “storied retailer hires M-III Partners to help on bankruptcy action; a debt deadline looms.” Today, I read a follow-up stories saying that their creditors were not going to arrange financing for restructuring which ensures foreclosure. How sad, yet necessary. We all anticipated the demise of Sears.

I love American Express. I have been a cardholder member since 1981. I can tell you countless stories how they saved me in a variety of circumstances. Whether I was traveling abroad and needed a last-minute hotel room, prescriptions filled in Greece when I forgot my pills at home, cash advance in the UK after hours or even help change my cabin on a sold-out cruise ship, American Express was always there for me. The company and their brand are like a familiar face that I have come to rely on after all these years.

Chick HERE TO LEARN MORE
November 9, 2017
A few weeks ago, I came across a “Blue Ribbon Commission Report by National Association of Corporate Directors discussing “Culture as a Corporate Asset”. The report proclaimed that corporate cultures matter in business. I was a bit surprised because I thought that was obvious. I previewed some of the findings, and I promised to share my thoughts on the report over time. From our beginning 19 years ago, Inward believed culture is the way work gets done. Culture is the sum total of behaviors, beliefs and decisions that leadership exhibits to create a positive and conducive business environment that allows positive implementation of the company strategy.
