Employee Engagement, Core Dimensions of Performance
July 25, 2018
I have always been a big fan of Peter Drucker, with his writings, theories and principles. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this management sage, he authored over 39 management books and was on the speed dial of many leading CEOs around the globe. According to Wikipedia, Drucker taught that management is "a liberal art," and he infused his management advice with interdisciplinary lessons from history, sociology, psychology, philosophy, culture and religion.

For those of you who are regular readers of our blogs, you know that we generally don’t cut and paste articles or press releases from other sources. However, today I came across an interesting piece from Paychex that ran on PRNewswire that is worthy of attention. Instead of paraphrasing it, I thought I’d just run it in its entirety with a link to the actual source of the report. The announcement is about a recently released Paychex Pulse HR survey that was recently conducted among HR professionals at one of their annual conferences. In a nutshell, they say that there is a strong commitment to talent management, as 85% of respondents said they're focusing on company culture to drive results.

I love American Express. I have been a cardholder member since 1981. I can tell you countless stories how they saved me in a variety of circumstances. Whether I was traveling abroad and needed a last-minute hotel room, prescriptions filled in Greece when I forgot my pills at home, cash advance in the UK after hours or even help change my cabin on a sold-out cruise ship, American Express was always there for me. The company and their brand are like a familiar face that I have come to rely on after all these years.

Are we experiencing "DIGITAL ADDICTION" at work
February 7, 2018
This week, I read an article on brandchannel called “Tech Insiders Warn About Cost of Kids’ Digital Addiction”. The piece outlines the complexities associated with the digital age and teen technology consumption. The article cites these statistics; teens use an average of 9 hours of media per day; tweens an average of 6 hours.

Millennial VS Baby Boomers in the workplace
January 30, 2018
The other day, I had a fascinating conversation with a client regarding the contrast and differences in attitudes and behavior in marketing/branding between the millennial workforce and generation X/baby boomer workforce. We both agreed that there are significant differences that run the risk of diminishing employee brand engagement among both populations. We felt that the differences between the groups could have dire consequences on the company’s purpose, morale, culture and brand reputation and that would ultimately have an impact on performance and productivity.
