Challenge: Sam’s Club was intrigued at how other general retailers, online retailers, big-box retailers and entertainment service providers were using “Brand Purpose” were adopting and incorporating culture and purpose in business operations overall. They sought a comprehensive analytical benchmark review of current retailers and service provider which might provide insights on how Sam’s Club could incorporate PURPOSE to their enterprise.
Solution: Inward was asked to conduct a comprehensive secondary research review of 20 companies in the grocery store, online retail, entertainment, big-box retailer and specialty retailer categories to determine which companies were effectively using purpose and culture to influence customer and employee engagement. This assignment required a comprehensive review and tutorial to explain the difference between, vision, mission, values, and purpose. The result was a detailed comprehensive insightful, analytical presentation that was reviewed across senior management teams.
